How We Achieve Our Mission:
Advocacy
Families Together collaborates with families, schools, policymakers,
and service providers to ensure families receive the services needed
for their children. In addition, we host an annual legislative luncheon
in which families have the opportunity to voice their concerns and ideas
with policymakers.
Support and Referrals Our toll-free information & referral
line serves over 1,000 family members and service providers each year.
Families Together staff have access to an extensive in-house resource
library and database to provide individuals with the information they
need.
Training and Education Families Together hosts workshops and
an annual conference for families and service providers. Our quarterly
newsletter reaches over 10,000 people and is available on this web site.
Information
Families Together in NYS is a clearinghouse
of information relating to children's mental health. The office boasts
an extensive resource library on almost any subject and its staff provides
technical assistance to families, service providers, and policymakers.
Public Awareness
To educate New York communities on children's
mental health, Families Together regularly distributes informational
brochures and sends press releases to the media. Awareness is also achieved
through special events, this web site, and staff outreach.
