by Emmet Macdonald, age 8
Thomas Edison was born in Ohio in 1847,
He was the youngest child in a family of seven. His teachers thought
he was a problem and easily confused. but when he read books on his
own, he was easily amused. He could read very quickly, and remember
everything he read. So his mom pulled him from school and taught him
at home instead.
Thomas Edison was a genius, although misunderstood.
People told him "you can't"
but he knew that he could.
He grew up later to be an inventor of many things. He
was interested in electricity, and all the power it brings. In his lifetime,
Edison patented over a thousand inventions.
To make the world a brighter place was always his intention.
Thomas Edison was a genius, although misunderstood.
People told him "you can't"
but he knew that he could.
The electric light bulb and the phonograph are what
brought him fame. But there were many other ideas that also weren't
too lame. The movie camera and the battery were also his to claim. And
without a battery, I couldn't play my game.
Thomas Edison was a genius, although misunderstood.
People told him "you can't"
but he knew that he could.
Families
Together in NYS is encouraging parents to share their experience, strength,
and hope with us so that other parents can know they aren't alone or
isolated in their own struggles. Please forward stories to bschewe@ftnys.org
