We pride ourselves on being a peer run network.  All of the staff of YOUTH POWER! are young adults with disabilities and/or cross-systems experiences.  They operate as official representatives of YP!, mentors of our young leaders and coordinators of network activities.

Regional Youth Partners

YOUTH POWER! works to make sure that as young people we have a voice in our services, our communities, and government.  To advance these efforts the New York State Office of Mental Health is funding us to strengthen our statewide structure through full-time regional peer positions.  These Regional Youth Partners (RYPs) will help us to increase youth voice on all levels of youth services.  They will also connect and support local youth led groups and host regional gatherings.  This expansion means that the youth movement for systems change is about to get even stronger!

Cassandra Morse had struggled with depression and a mood disorder through her teen years.  She overcame these struggles and decided she wanted to work with youth in similar situations.  Cassandra started working on her Associates Degree in Human Services and has a passion for working with youth.  She volunteered at various youth groups in her late teen years.  Cassandra also started working at Finger Lakes Parent Network, Inc., became a Teen Facilitator and advanced to overseeing their Teen Peer Support Program in nine counties.  Cassandra Morse is very excited to join the YOUTH POWER! team and to help advance the youth voice in the Western Region.

Text Box: YOUTH POWER! is the New York State network of young people who have been labeled and are seeking change. Together, we have decided to speak up about our experiences because no one knows what it is like for us better than we do. Through peer-to-peer mentoring, we empower young people to be active citizens that are aware of government operations, their rights and the ability to use their voices to influence policies, practices, regulations and laws. We are young people helping other people, ensuring availability of self-help and peer support while changing systems so that young people get the support they need with the respect and dignity they deserve.
