On June 24-25, 2021, we are hosting the seventh annual University of Youth Power via Zoom, a for-youth-by-youth social justice conference that is modeled after a college experience. UYP is the premier youth peer leadership conference that provides Youth Peer Advocates and change agents the opportunity to build skills and expand their professional network. Young people ages 16 to 30 will be able to register with a major of Peer Advocacy or Systems Advocacy. UYP 2021 will take place via Zoom.
University of Youth Power will include professors from a variety of fields of work included: Disability Rights, Mental Health, Recovery, Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, Labor, Independent Living, and More!
MAJORS
Peer Advocacy: In this major, young people will develop competencies in areas such as: strategic sharing, engagement techniques, facilitation, advocacy, communication, self-help, wellness tools, etc.
Systems Advocacy: In this major, young people will develop competencies in areas such as: general systems advocacy, leading boards and committees, public speaking, understanding government structures, campaign development, artivism, addressing disparities, recognizing privilege, etc.
Recovery Advocacy: This track is for young people focused on learning the multiple pathways to recovery and the advocacy that comes with it.
