SUMMARY:Intergenerational Truama
DESCRIPTION:Training Objective\n(Intergenerational trauma) is a term that has implications for anyone working with children\, youth\, adults and families across all service systems. It is a complex construct that entails developmental neurobiology and epigenetics\, and because it overlaps with historical trauma it also involves an understanding of the legacy of racism\, slavery\, colonialism and genocide. This presentation will focus on identifying ways that an understanding of intergenerational trauma can be integrated into a trauma informed approach to care. \nDr. James Rodriguez\, PHD\, LCSW \nDr. James Rodriguez is a Senior Research Scientist and Director of Trauma-Informed Services at the McSilver Institute. He is a New York State-licensed clinical social worker and psychologist with over 25 years of providing mental health services to children\, youth and families. \nOCTOBER\, 27TH\, 2022 \nTIME: 10:00AM-12:00PM \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Mental Health 101: Awareness Training
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, March 24th\, 2022\n10:00 am – 12:00PM \nPresented by: Jasmine Lucas\nEmail: jlucas@mhaw.org \nGoals of the training: \n\nIncrease basic knowledge of mental health to help reduce stigma.\nUnderstand Mental Health as a continuum of wellness that defines us every day — it is\nillness\, recovery and all of the space in between.\nPromote wellness\, treatment seeking behavior\, recovery and self-care.\n\nWhy is this important?\nConsider this: the median time between the onset of mental illness (when symptoms first appear) and when an individual gets appropriate treatment is 10 years. During that time time\, a person is likely experiencing periods of increased symptomology and periods of wellness.\nMental Health and recovery are dependent on an individual’s ability to recognize and manage where he/she is each day on the continuum between wellness and illness and take care accordingly\, an important piece to quality of life. Education and early intervention promotes wellness. \nJoin zoom meeting: bit.ly/3w5cVaO\n  \nMeeting ID: 832 3192 0066 | Passcode: 167971 \nIf you have any questions or concerns\, please contact Heather Tafuro\, at htafuro@ftnys.org\, or Cheryl Williams\, at cwilliams@ftnys.org
