Culturally Responsive Peer Support for FPAs Working with Diverse Families
This presentation will explore culturally responsive peer support practices for Family Peer Advocates (FPAs) working with diverse families across child- and family-serving systems. We emphasize the importance of cultural humility, effective communication, and strength-based, family-centered approaches in addressing disparities, power imbalances, and systemic barriers that impact marginalized communities. Participants will gain practical strategies for engaging families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, supporting family voice, and providing ethical, advocacy-oriented peer support that aligns with family-driven and trauma-informed principles.
