The Dangers of Passive Screen Time

This training explores how prolonged, disengaged consumption of digital content—such as scrolling, binge-watching, and background media use—impacts cognitive, emotional, and social development across the lifespan. This presentation examines the neurological effects of passive screen exposure, including reduced attention span, impaired executive functioning, and diminished emotional regulation. It also highlights the relational consequences, particularly how passive screen habits can disrupt family dynamics, weaken communication, and limit meaningful connection. Grounded in research and real-world application, the session offers practical strategies for individuals, caregivers, and professionals to shift from passive to intentional screen use, promoting healthier engagement, improved well-being, and stronger interpersonal relationships.
