Connecting the Dots: Helping Youth Access Community Resources Effectively
Youth Peer Advocates (YPAs) play a vital role in empowering young people to connect with the resources they need to thrive. This webinar will provide practical strategies for guiding youth through community systems, identifying barriers, and building confidence in resource navigation. Participants will explore tools, communication techniques, and culturally responsive approaches to ensure youth feel supported and informed throughout the process.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify common types of community resources and how they support youth needs.
- Apply effective strategies for assisting youth in navigating complex systems.
- Recognize barriers to resource access and develop solutions to overcome them.
- Utilize strength-based and culturally responsive approaches when guiding youth.
- Create a personalized resource map/list for use in their advocacy work.

YPA Lived Experience Cafe
Whether you are new to your role or have been a Youth Peer Advocate for many years, the Lived Experience Cafe is a YPA networking group to share experiences, innovative and effective practices, knowledge and skills, solution to barriers and challenges, and key information supporting your role as Youth Peer Advocates!

Youth Peers Meeting
YPM is a monthly statewide meeting for students and youth, Youth Peer Advocates (YPA), Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPA), and others in similar peer-based roles (ages 12-30) to connect and have an open discussion to share tools and strategies, advocacy, and workforce development.
