Albany, NY – Governor Cuomo on Tuesday signed an executive order to move 16 and 17 year old inmates out of adult prisons. It’s something he promised to do after the legislature did not take up the broader raise the age legislation during this year’s session. Advocates have praised the decision, saying it will better protect teenage prisoners from assault and abuse and will also help cut down on recidivism.
