 Youth Power is hosting the 10th annual University of Youth Power (UYP). University of Youth Power, a youth-led peer leadership conference that provides Youth Peer Advocates (ages 18-30) and change agents the opportunity to build skills and expand their professional network. Students choose one of the three tracks:
Peer Advocacy, Systems Advocacy, or Recovery Advocacy. 

Call for Professors

The University of Youth Power welcomes diverse proposals from individuals, emphasizing flexibility in addressing the unique needs of each major and providing courses suitable for both beginners and advanced students. Proposals are encouraged to incorporate creative and engaging activities for universal participation, and all submissions will undergo review by the Youth Power Advisory Council. The majors and topics at the University of Youth Power include:

Systems Advocacy:

  • Targeted towards young individuals aiming to change systems and influence policies, practices, regulations, and laws.
  • Includes skills such as Systems Advocacy Skills, Diversity Equity Inclusion & Belonging, Building and Leading Effective Teams, and Developing Trauma Informed Policies and Practice.

Recovery Advocacy:

  • Focused on understanding multiple pathways to recovery and the associated advocacy.
  • Topics include Harm Reduction, Self Care, and Pathways to Recovery.

Peer Advocacy:

  • Geared towards promoting self-advocacy through empowerment and shared lived experience.
  • Relevant topics cover Youth Peer Advocacy Skills, Group & Meeting Facilitation, Power Sharing, Lived Experience vs Lived Expertise, Leadership Skills, and Strategic Sharing.
