Ernest Stevens, who served as a police officer for over 28 years, recently retired from the San Antonio Police Department, where he served for 25 1/2 years. Stevens was the founding member of the San Antonio Police Department Mental Health Unit. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Stevens has been featured on Nightline, NBC’s A Different Kind of Force, and the Emmy award-winning HBO documentary Ernie and Joe: Crisis cops. He currently trains other police departments in crisis intervention training.
