CTAC Event: Addressing Negative Self Talk in Youth and Youth Peer Advocates (YPAs)

May 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Location: Zoom

Event Details: Many young people struggle with negative self-talk, feelings of unworthiness, and
low self-esteem. When youth repeatedly hear negative labels or criticism, they may begin to believe these messages about themselves. Over time, these beliefs can shape how they view themselves, their abilities, and their value. When youth repeatedly tell themselves things like “I’m not good enough”, “I always mess up” or I’m not worthy,” it can impact their self-esteem, identity development, mental health, and overall well-being.

This webinar aims to help Youth Peer Advocates (YPAs) better understand how negative self-talk develops in youth and how it influences their self-perception. Participants will learn practical strategies to encourage youth, speak life into them, and support healthier self-perception. By changing how adults communicate and respond to youth, we can help young people address negative self-talk with confidence, self-compassion, and a stronger sense of worth.
